The indication emerged from the meeting of the promoters of Justice and Peace of Argentina, Brazil and Chile

Curitiba (Brazil), April 16 (VID)- In the fact of rising globalization, a greater commitment to justice and peace is required of religious who should transform themselves into believable witness bearers, who show the possibility of a society which reaches out to everyone.

This was pointed out in the final statement of the Dehonian religious who attended the by the meeting of Justice and Peace Directors of Argentina, Brazil and Chile held in Curitiba from April 5th to April 6th, 2002 . The meeting is one of the preparatory meetings in view of the meeting in Montreal which shall involves the entire Congregation scheduled for October.

The meeting concentrated its analysis on the phenomenon of "globalization" whose "negative" consequences on the people and societies of the Continent were highlighted. It was also nonetheless pointed out that globalization in and of itself "it is neither a beneficial or negative fact. It is the use that one makes of it, which generates positive or negative consequences." For the time being, the negative consequences are prevailing, with "denationalizations undertaken without any criteria", "rising joblessness, "a increased instability of the political and financial systems", and the "destruction of the ecosystem."

The section dealing with proposals is a substantial one. We first of all needs "to deepen the principle of support to the needy, of support to intermediary social groups, also establishing networks of solidarity initiatives." At the practical level, we need collaboration "in the ethical formation of social communicators and of the critical conscience of the users of the means of communications."

As regards the Dehonian Congregation more specifically, there is a need "to insist" at the provincial and regional level for an "academic formation of religious and laymen in the Justice and Peace area", in such a way that the religious "become part of" the Justice and Peace commissions of the dioceses, of Conferences of Bishops and the Conferences of Religious.

Curitiba (Brasil), 16 de abril (VID) - Ante el auge de la globalización se impone un compromiso mayor a favor de la justicia y de la paz, y los religiosos han de transformarse en testigos creíbles que demuestren la posibilidad de una sociedad solidaria.

Lo señalan en el comunicado final los religiosos dehonianos que han participado del 5 al 7 de abril en el encuentro de los Promotores de Justicia y Paz de Argentina, Brasil y Chile en Curitiba (Brasil), una de las etapas preparatorias del encuentro de toda la Congregación fijado para octubre en Montreal.

La reunión ha concentrado su análisis en el fenómeno de la "globalización" y en sus consecuencias "negativas" para los pueblos y las sociedades del Continente. Pero también se ha subrayado que en sí misma la globalización "no es una realidad positiva ni negativa. Lo que genera consecuencias positivas o negativas es la forma en que se aplica". Por el momento predominan las consecuencias negativas, como la "privatización llevada a cabo sin criterios", "el aumento de la desocupación, "la inestabilidad de los sistemas políticos y financieros ", "la destrucción del ecosistema".

Amplia la parte dedicada a las propuestas. Ante todo, es menester "profundizar en el principio de subsidiariedad, en apoyo a los grupos sociales intermedios, y crear una red de iniciativas solidarias". Los religiosos, en particular, tienen un papel concreto que consiste en dar "testimonio" de pobreza y de un estilo de vida alternativo. En el plano práctico, es preciso "colaborar en la formación ética de los comunicadores sociales y de la conciencia crítica de los que utilizan los medios de comunicación".

Por lo que toca más de cerca a la Congregación Dehoniana, hay que "insistir" en los ámbitos provincial y regional en una "formación académica de los religiosos y de los laicos en la esfera de la Justicia y de la Paz ",y hacer que los religiosos se "integren" en las comisiones de Justicia y Paz de las diócesis, de las Conferencias episcopales, de las Conferencias de los Religiosos.
