Pensando en este canto quiero compartir con Uds. algunas vivencias de la parroquia "EL Sagrario" de Ancud. Varios de Uds. han pasado en este verano por la casa nuestra y nos da gusto de recibirlos. Muchas gracias por las visitas y que se repitan...

Desgraciadamente no pudimos ofrecer mucho sol, sino al contrario muchas lluvias y hasta tormentas, pero así es la naturaleza de esta isla.

Iniciando un nuevo año de trabajo en estos días de marzo, uno piensa: que hacer para que todos nos sintamos un poco más feliz, un poco más humano. Leyendo los informes que Justicia y Paz nos envió desde Roma sobre los Dajaks de Kalimantan en Indonesia que por lo menos cortaron a unos 3000 personas la cabeza, la industria de secuestros en Colombia, las barbaridades en Afganistán y la eterna pelea entre Judíos y Palestinos uno se pregunta: ¿para que estamos en esta tierra? Solamente para hacernos mutuamente infeliz?

Mañana recibimos aquí en Ancud la "caravana del amor" del padre Hurtado: su camioneta famosa, una estatua casi al tamaño natural que pesa 50 kilos y una reliquia no sé de donde la sacaron. Con ocasión del primer centenario de su nacimiento inició en enero en Punta Arenas esta peregrinación y después de su paso por la diócesis de Aysén llegó a nosotros en Chaitén a ausencia del cura, pero con la ayuda de los laicos se llevó adelante esta empresa. El día lunes llegó la barcaza desde Chaitén a Quellón y se inicio la caminata por la Isla Grande. Durante dos días padre Hurtado paseaba por los barrios pobres de Quellón y el miércoles 7 de marzo pasó por Compu donde fue recibido por los fiscales de la parroquia y los caciques de los Huilliches. En la noche llegó a Chonchi en medio de la lluvia. Por el temporal teníamos que suspender la visita a la Isla Lemuy, porque el puerto estaba cerrado. Viernes pasada llegó a la capital de la provincia a Castro. Por aquí resultó bien a pesar de las lluvias y temporales.

Martes a medio día llegará a Ancud viniendo desde Achao. Lo esperamos con una caravana de coches en el limite de la parroquia para llevarlo a la Iglesia Parroquial. Después habrá una visita a la cárcel, al hospital y después un paseo por las poblaciones de Bonilla, uno de los más pobres de nuestra ciudad. Terminamos con una vigilia en San Francisco hasta media noche, organizada por la pastoral Juvenil. El día siguiente padre Hurtado como maestro de juventudes pasará por los colegios del Seminario Conciliar, Colegio El Pilar y el liceo municipal. En la tarde pasaremos por "Hogar de Cristo" y la escuela de carabineros.

En la noche habrá una eucaristía en la Catedral como despedida oficial de nuestra diócesis y el día jueves, después de pasar por Pudeto Bajo, otra población pobre lo entregamos a la parroquia de Chacao que se encargará de llevarlo al continente, a la diócesis de Puerto Montt, con su nuevo flamante arzobispo.

Pero esta visita es solamente algo intermedio. El trabajo con las comunidades ya empezó con una primera reunión de las 14 comunidades de la ciudad de Ancud. Fue una buena reunión por supuesto mientras la lluvia cae sobre los techos de zinc. Se presentó el plan pastoral de la diócesis y las tareas para este año. Cada comunidad contó brevemente su situación y los problemas que les afectan. Viernes pasado, el ultimo viernes de cada mes teníamos nuestra reunión con todos los fiscales del campo. Si todos vienen con sus soto-fiscales somos 72, pero no hemos logrado esta meta. Siempre habrán algunos que faltan por enfermedad o por otras razones. Fue una de las últimas tareas de p.Juan Gamboa , antes de salir a vacaciones, de conversar con ellos sobre el tiempo de Cuaresma. Después me tocó a Hernan animarles para que en cada capilla se organizara una celebración para entregar la ceniza a todos los feligreses. A cada uno entregamos una cajita de ceniza y un texto de liturgia y el mensaje de realizar ojalá el mismo miércoles de ceniza, sino el domingo siguiente esta liturgia.

I wish to share with all of you some happenings in BLESSED SACRAMENT PARISH of ANCUD. A number of you have passed through here this summer and came to our house. We were happy to have you visit and hope that they continue...

Unfortunately, we could not offer you much sun. Quite the opposite, we had heavy rains and many storms, which is part of this island's natural process.

Beginning some new works during these early days of March, one thinks: What could we do to make us feel a little happier, a little more human? Reading the news from the Justice and Peace Office in Rome about the Dajaks of Kalimantan in Indonesia who beheaded 3000 people, the kidnappings in Colombia, the atrocities in Afghanistan, and the on-going battles between Jews and Palestinians, one might ask: What are we here on earth for? Only to make each other mutually unhappy?

Tomorrow, we will receive here in ANCUD the "CARAVAN OF LOVE" with Father Hurtado. His famous truck is filled with a statue that weighs over 100 pounds. Within the statue is a relic whose origins are unknown. With the opportunity to celebrate the first centennial of existence, a pilgrimage began in PUNTA ARENAS, through the Diocese of AYSEN, and arrived en CHAITEN in the absence of their priest. With the help of the lay people, this pilgrimage continued its mission. On Monday, the boat arrived from CHAITEN to QUELLON and it was here that the pilgrim walk began throughout ISLA GRANDE. For two days, Father Hurtado walked through the poor communities of QUELLON. On Wednesday, March 7th, he went to COMPU, where he was received by the treasurers of the parish and the politicians from LOS HULLICHES. Father Hurtado arrived by night to CHONCHI in the midst of a rainstorm. Temporarily, we had to postpone the visit to ISLA LEMUY, since the port was closed down. Last Friday, he arrived in the capital city of the province, CASTRO. Here, some good things happened in spite of the rain and storms.

Father Hurtado will arrive by midday to ANCUD, coming from ACHAO. He will be greeted with a caravan of cars at the outskirts of the parish in order to accompany him to the parish church. Then, he will visit the jail, the hospital, and then make a run through the communities of BONILLA, one of the poorest areas of our city. We will finish with a prayer vigil in SAN FRANCISCO at midnight, which will be organized by the Youth Group. On the following day, Father Hurtado, a former teacher with the young people, will visit the students attending school at SEMINARIO CONCILIAR, EL PILAR, and the local middle school. In the afternoon, we will visit CHRIST HOUSE (HOGAR DE CRISTO) and the police academy.

In the evening, we will celebrate Eucharist in the cathedral as the official farewell from our diocese. On Thursday, after visiting PUDETO BAJO, another impoverished community, we will entrust Father Hurtado to the parish in CHACAO, which will be responsible for taking him around the area including the Diocese of PUERTO MONTT and its flamboyant archbishop.

This visit is solely a stopping point. The work with the communities began with a meeting of the 14 communities from ANCUD. It was a good meeting even as the raindrops fell on the zinc rooftops. The Diocesan Pastoral Plan for the year was presented and the various tasks for the coming year were discussed. Each community briefly shared their situations and problems that affect their people. This past Friday, as on the last Friday of each month, we had a meeting with all of treasurers of these communities. If everyone comes with the understudies, we number 72 people. But we have never reached this goal. Someone always is missing either due to illness or other reasons. This was one of the final works of Fr. Juan Gamboa, before leaving for some vacation time. He wanted to speak with the people about the Lenten season. Then it was my turn to speak about organizing a service for distributing ashes to the faithful. For each member present, we distributed a box of ashes, an order of worship, and a message to be delivered on ASH WEDNESDAY or for the following Sunday's liturgy.

 Now, each one of you who reads this text can feel informed about the recent events happening in our community on ISLA GRANDE DE CHILOE.

Desidero condividere con tutti di voi gli avvenimenti della Parrocchia del "SS.mo Sacramento" di ANCUD. Un certo numero di voi è passato di qui questa estate e è venuto a casa nostra. Noi siamo stati felici della vostra visita e speriamo che ciò continui...

Disgraziatamente non potemmo offrire molto sole, bensì al contrario molte piogge e perfino temporali, ma così è la natura di quest'isola.

Iniziando un nuovo anno di lavoro, in questi giorni di marzo, si pensa: che fare affinché tutti ci sentiamo un po' più felice, un po' più umani? Leggendo le relazioni che Giustizia e Pace c'inviò da Roma sui Dajaks di Kalimantan in Indonesia che tagliarono a circa 3000 persone la testa, l'industria dei sequestri in Colombia, le assurdità in Afghanistan e l'eterna lite tra Ebrei e Palestinesi, ci si domanda: che ci stiamo a fare su questa terra? Solamente per renderci infelici a vicenda?

Domani riceviamo qui ad Ancud "la carovana dell'amore" del padre Hurtado: il suo camioncino famoso porta una statua quasi a dimensione naturale che pesa 50 chili, una reliquia che non si sa da dove venga. In occasione del primo centenario della sua esistenza, ha iniziato in gennaio a Punta Arenas questo pellegrinaggio, attraverso la diocesi di Aysén fino a Chaitén; in assenza del curato, ma con l'aiuto dei laici questa impresa ha potuto essere portata avanti. Lunedì è arrivata la chiatta da Chaitén a Quellón ed è iniziato il pellegrinaggio per l'Isola Grande. Per due giorni padre Hurtado è andato per i quartieri poveri di Quellón ed il mercoledì 7 di marzo è passato da Compu dove è stato ricevuto dai responsabili della parrocchia ed i capi tribù indiani Huilliches. Nella notte è arrivato da Chonchi sotto la pioggia. Per il temporale abbiamo dovuto sospendere la visita all'Isola Lemuy, perché il porto era chiuso. Venerdì scorso è arrivato alla capitale della provincia a Castro. Qui tutto è andato bene, nonostante le piogge e temporali.

Martedì a mezzogiorno arriverà ad Ancud venendo da Achao. L'aspettiamo con una carovana di automobili ai confini della parrocchia per portarlo alla Chiesa Parrocchiale. Poi ci sarà una visita al carcere, all'ospedale e, dopo una visita alle popolazioni di Bonilla, uno dei più poveri della nostra città, si terminerà con una veglia in San Francesco fino a mezzanotte, organizzata dal gruppo Giovanile. Il giorno dopo padre Hurtado, come formatore dei giovani, passerà per le scuole del Seminario Conciliare, El Pilar, e alle scuole medie locali. Nel pomeriggio visiteremo Hogar de Cristo e la scuola dei finanzieri.

Alla sera ci sarà un'eucaristia nella Cattedrale come addio ufficiale della nostra diocesi e giovedì, dopo avere passato per Pudeto Bajo, un'altra popolazione povera, lo consegniamo alla parrocchia di Chacao che si incaricherà di portarlo al continente, alla diocesi di Puerto Montt, col suo nuovo arcivescovo.

Ma questa visita è solamente una pausa. Il lavoro con le comunità è iniziato già con una prima riunione delle 14 comunità della città di Ancud. È stata ovviamente una bella riunione mentre la pioggia cadeva sui soffitti di zinco. È stato presentato il piano pastorale della diocesi ed i compiti per questo anno. Ogni comunità ha esposto brevemente la sua situazione ed i problemi che la rigurdano. Venerdì scorso, come ogni ultimo venerdì di ogni mese, abbiamo avuto la nostra riunione con i responsabili di queste comunità. Se tutti venissero con le proprie relazioni, saremmo in 72, ma non siamo ancora riusciti a raggiungere questo scopo. Ci saranno sempre alcuni che mancano per malattia o per altre ragioni.

È stato uno degli ultimi compiti di p. Juan Gamboa, prima di andare in ferie, di tenere delle conferenze sulla Quaresima. Poi è toccato a me di incoraggiarli affinché in ogni cappella si organizzasse una celebrazione per imporre la cenere a tutti i parrocchiani. Ad ognuno consegniamo una scatolina con la cenere, per celebrare una liturgia, ed un messaggio da trasmettere magari lo stesso mercoledì delle ceneri, oppure la domenica seguente durante la liturgia.
