KISANGANI: CROCE ROSSA DIFFONDE NUOVO BILANCIO (BRIEF, GENERAL)

Sono 760 le vittime sinora accertate dei combattimenti registrati, nel giugno scorso a Kisangani (Provincia Orientale, Repubblica Democratica del Congo), fra le truppe ruandesi e quelle ugandesi. Il nuovo bilancio è stato diffuso, ieri, dal Comitato internazionale della Croce Rossa (Icrc). L'organismo umanitario ha precisato che 614 sono i civili morti, durante la settimana di scontri, mentre i militari caduti sono 141. La sepoltura delle vittime, ha proseguito l'Icrc, non è ancora conclusa. Nell'ennesima battaglia scoppiata a Kisangani, poco più di un mese fa, sono state impiegate armi di tutti i tipi e anche di grosso calibro. Ne deriva che la città è tuttora costellata di bombe e ordigni di vario genere che continuano a minacciare la popolazione civile. I siti urbani definiti pericolosi dalla Croce Rossa sono 2mila e 500. The Red Cross disseminated New Budget

There are 760 victims now registered from June's conflict between the Ruandan and Ugandan troops at Kisangani (Eastern Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo). Yesterday the new budget was disseminated by the International Committee of the Red Cross. The Red Cross has identified that 614 civilians died along with 171 soldiers during the conflict. Burial of the victims will continue until all victims have been buried. During the month long battle troops used weapons of all types, including heavy caliber. The city continues to be threatened by unexploded bombs and land mines. The Red Cross has classified the city as a urban danger area.

Son 760 las víctimas, hasta ahora censadas, por los combates registrados, en junio pasado en Kisangani (Provincia Oriental, República Democrática del Congo), entre las tropas ruandesas y las ugandesas. El nuevo balance ha sido difundido ayer por el Comité Internacional de la Cruz Roja (ICRC). El organismo humanitario ha precisado que 614 son los civiles muertos durante la semana de enfrentamientos, mientras que los militares caídos son 141. La sepultura de las víctimas, prosiguió el ICRC, aún no ha concluído. En la enésima batalla desarrollada en Kisangani, poco menos de hace un mes, han sido empleadas armas de todo tipo, también de grueso calibre. Se deriva que la ciudad está todavía afectada por las bombas y los desórdenes de diverso género continúan amenazando a la población civil. Los sitios urbanos definidos como peligrosos por la Cruz Roja son 2500. (BL)
