The approval by the general administration of the convention document between North Italy, the 'mother' province, and the region of Mozambique paves the way on March 14, 1998, the anniversary of the founder's birth, for the creation of the new province of Mozambique (MZ). The first provincial administration will take office of the Feast of the Sacred Heart (June, 19, 1998).
The new province consists of the following:
- 1 bishop (Bishop Tomé Makhwéliha of Pemba)
- 41 priests
- 2 brothers
- 17 scholastics
- 3 novices
- 2 postulants
- 12 religious communities (including the diocese of Maputo, Gurúè, and Quelimane
plus the formation community in Ngoya, Cameroon)
The following appeared in Fridge Notes (a weekly publication of the US Province) for Monday March 9, 1998.Some of the prayers of Fr. Leo John Dehon have been included in At Prayer with the Saints, a compilation of prayers done by Anthony Chiffolo. It was published by Liguori Press this year. The founder's prayers appear on pages 142-144 as prayers of petition.
ESIC is a business and marketing school (university) operated by the Spanish scjs for the past 30 years, with centers in Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, Zaragoza and Pamplona, In addition to offering bachelor and master degrees, ESIC sponsors continuing education programs for the professional business community, as well as publications for the business community.It is one of the most important private business schools in all of Spain. The scjs try to insert their spirituality and the social doctrine of the Church by offering courses in the Church's social teachings, as well as through courses in business ethics and extensive publications on the social teachings of the Church. We often think of the Polish Province when conversation turns to our expansion in Eastern Europe in the nineties. While Poland is at the forefront of this expansion other provinces have also contributed as well. Here is a break down of where we are, and what provinces are involved:
- Albania - South Italy
- Byelorussia - Poland
- Croatia - Poland (part of the Austrian-Croatian Region under the German Province)
- Slovakia - Poland with financial assistance from several provinces, especially the Luxembourg -Walloon Province
- Moldavia - Poland
- Ukraine - Poland
