LA SEMANA DE ENCUENTRO DE SUPERIORES PROVINCIALES, REGIONALES Y DE COMUNIDADES TERRITORIALES SCJ
Roma 3-13 de Noviembre de 1998
Hoy lunes, 9 de Noviembre retomamos nuestro trabajos después de la breve pausa del fin de semana, muy necesaria. Más que presentar una síntesis de los trabajos realizados hasta hoy, me resulta más interesante conjugar unas impresiones personales. Ante todo, este encuentro tiene importancia por si mismo; como encuentro entre cohermanos de la misma congregación que tienen la misma responsabilidad de animar a otros cohermanos, las mismas o similares preocupaciones y esperanzas. Es lindo encontrarse, escuchar al otro, compartir estos momentos de vida. Somos de distintas latitudes, pero la fe y el carisma dehonianos nos unen en la misma misión. Algunos ya nos conocíamos desde el último Capítulo General (97) o incluso de antes; otros eran añales que no se veían. Tal vez dese los años de estudio aquí en Roma. Estamos intentando entender y asimilar el "Sint Unum", el "Nosotros Congregación", primero nosotros, desde nuestra responsabilidad de servidores de los cohermanos. Una cosa es hablar de las "estructuras de gobierno, nuevas o viejas; será siempre algo jurídico, un tanto frío, aunque es necesario definirlas de una vez. Otra cosa es el alma de todo eso, que somos nosotros, nuestras comunidades, sobre todos nuestros misioneros y los jóvenes en formación. Nos damos cuenta que el mundo cambia velozmente y nos arrastra en su corriente, en su mentalidad liberal· No obstante, es más positivo valorar los signos de los tiempos, las semillas del Reino presentes en nuestro mundo, al interno de nuestras provincias, regiones y zonas misioneras. Hemos emprendido un camino juntos; hay un lenguaje nuevo; lentamente pero seguramente la mentalidad cambia en nosotros; necesitamos los unos de los otros; necesitamos el apoyo mutuo, la ayuda recíproca, ya sea en lo que hace al personal, como en la solidaridad el compartir los bienes. Es importante intercambiar experiencias, iniciativa, comunicar nuestras ideas, aunar esfuerzos de cara a la misión común. Esto nos ayuda a entender y a relativizar los problemas locales que todos tenemos.
Estamos llamados a ser profetas del amor y servidores de la reconciliación, en el mundo lleno de desafíos. Estos desafíos se hacen más reales a nuestra vida religiosa dehoniana, allí donde estamos: Provincia, Región o Comunidad misionera: en África, Asia, Europa, América y, lo más importante es estar atentos a esta realidad, en especial la de los más pobres que claman justicia.
Se habló en estos días de profetismo, de nuestra vida religiosa dehoniana, de una presencia que sea "signo" del amor de Dios entre los hombres; a veces podrá ser un profetismo silencioso, escondido, cotidiano·; otras veces podrá y deberá ser luz para ser vista por los hombres de hoy.
Todo está bien, hasta que la letra no mate el espíritu· y parece que entre nosotros hay muchas ganas de caminar, crecer y renovarnos· Esperemos que a la hora de la generosidad y disponibilidad, ya sea con el personal como en los medios económicos, el Espíritu nos encuentre despiertos.

We continue the meeting today, November 9th, after a really necessary week end rest. I think to express some feelings and personal opinions would be better than trying to make a reassume. First of all, this meeting is important by itself, as brothers of the same congregation meeting, who have the responsibility of encouraging other brothers with similar concern. It's wonderful to meet people, to listen to others, to share these moments of life. We come from many different latitudes, however, our faith and scj charisma join us in the same mission.
Some of us knew one another already, because we met last year during the General Chapter ('97), or even before that.
We are trying to understand and assimilate the meaning of Sint Unum and We the Congregation. First of all we have to understand it, as it servers our provinces. In fact, to talk about government structures, old or new ones, is always a juridical matter, something cold, even though it's necessary to define it. Nevertheless, the real soul of everything is our people, our communities, above all our missionaries and young people in formation. We realize the world is changing very fast and it drags us along its liberal mentality! While this may be true, it's more important for us to recognize the sings of time, the Kingdom seeds present in our Provinces, Regions and Territorial Communities. We have undertaken a road together. There is a new language; step by step, ever so slowly our mentality is changing. We need each other, we need our reciprocal help, not only sharing people but also sharing our economic resources. It's truly important to exchange experiences and initiatives, to communicate our ideas, in order to pool our resources for our common mission. This will help from closing in on our local problems.
We are to be Prophets of Love and servers of Reconciliation in a world with a lot of challenges. These challenges make our scj religious life more real whether we are in: Africa, Asia, America. Above all the most important thing is to be attentive to the reality, especially to the conditions of the poorest. We have been speaking during these days about prophetic, about religious life, about presence as a sign of God's love between men. Sometimes this prophetic stance must be quiet, hidden; conversely it will have to become a light to be seen by men.
Everything is right, while the law don't kill the spirit. I think we are willing to work, to grow together and to renew ourselves! We hope the Holy Spirit may find us awake and willing when the time comes for us to share generously our people and our economical resources.
