"You have been praying for me since last Monday. I have felt the prayers and am appreciative for them. Contrary to what had happened in previous years, instead of using themes as in years gone by, Mr. Decano has divided them up. He mentioned that he felt a preference for San Quentin. Because of that he gave me the most beautiful topic. All watched me in envy. I received a very high grade. But I have yet to do the oral examination next Saturday from 9 until 11 AM. That is more difficult. I can triple the points of my written exam. Because of this, I turn to you. How is your mother? I have united with you in prayer for these exercises. But I pray so poorly. Vacation at the seminary begins on Monday, July 25th. But I must go to an exam on the 27th for the Masters Degree. This means I can only leave on July 28th most likely in the morning. I wish to be at the novitiate as a dear who thirsts for running streams. I pray that I can survive all of this."

"Lei ha pregato e ha fatto pregare per me lunedì scorso. L'ho sentito e la ringrazio. Al contrario di quello che è successo negli anni precedenti, invece di sorteggiare i temi, il Sig. Decano li ha distribuiti. Disse che aveva una preferenza per San Quintino, e per quel motivo mi ha dato il tema più bello. Tutti mi guardavano con invidia. Ebbi un voto molto buono. Ma rimane l'esame orale, il prossimo sabato dalle 9 alle 11. È molto più difficile. Può triplicarmi il punteggio dell'esame scritto. Per questo motivo mi raccomando a lei. Come va sua madre? Mi sono unito a lei nel modo migliore che ho potuto nei miei esercizi di pietà. Ma prego tanto male. In seminario le vacanze cominciano il lunedì 25 Luglio, ma devo assistere ad un esame di laurea il mercoledì 27, cosicché posso partire solo il 28, probabilmente in mattinata. Anelo entrare al noviziato come un cervo assetato alle fonti di acqua viva. Che questo possa realizzarsi!"

"Usted ha rezado y ha hecho rezar por mi el lunes pasado. Lo he sentido y se lo agradezco. Contrario a lo que ha pasado los años anteriores, en vez de sortear los temas, el Señor Decano los ha distribuido. Dijo que tenía una preferencia por San Quintín, y por eso me ha dado el tema más bonito. Todos me miraron con envidia. Tuve una muy buena nota. Pero queda el examen oral, el próximo sábado de las 9 a las 11 horas. Es mucho más difícil. Me puede triplicar el puntaje del examen escrito. Por eso me encomiendo a usted. ¿Cómo va su señora madre?. Me he unido a usted lo mejor que pude en mis ejercicios. Pero rezo tan mal. El seminario entra en vacaciones el lunes 25 de julio, pero debo asistir a un examen de licenciatura el miércoles 27, así que sólo puedo partir el 28, probablemente en la mañana. Anhelo estar en el noviciado como un ciervo sediento a las fuentes de agua viva. ¡Qué pueda durar esto!".
