What's New

During his recent visit to Rome, Bishop Vital Chitolina, scj, the apostolic vicar of the apostolic prélature of Paranatinga sat down with Stefan Tertünte (GE). The interview is being prepared for the new SCJ German web site (www.scj.de) which will officially go online next month. Stephen was kind enough to share the interview with us. It is available in English, French and German (cf. Bishop Vital)

The Justice and Peace report from the Polish Province has been posted to the Justice & Peace page (CF. Poland).

The March Prayer has been posted to the Vocation Page, along with the first listing of province, region and community participants to the Lavras Vocation Conference, August 1-20, 1999. Would those provinces, regions and communities who have not responded please do so. What's Happening

After nine years in office as provincial Hugh Hanley (BH) stepped down from office. On March 1, 1999 in a simple ceremony the new provincial Michael Walshe and his council took office.

After a well deserved vacation Fr. General returned to Rome on March 5th. He will spend several days in Rome before commencing the canonical visitation of the South Italian (IM) Province. Umberto Chiarello (CU) will accompany him on this visit.
 

The General Curia recently received this picture of the scj staffed parish in Kouvola, Finland. Stanislaw Szymajda (PO) is pastor. Kouvola is a city east of Helsinki, not to far from the Russian border (Cf. http://www.funet.fi/resources/maps/kouvola/).
