BrazilBishop Murilo Sebastião Ramos Krieger, Archbishop of Florianopolis, underwent open heart surgery on November 1, 2002. He is doing well, and after his hospital stay, is expected to take a month to rest and recuperate. His ad limena visit to Rome scheduled for this month has been postponed.
France -- a solution to our mystery?
It appears we can lay to rest, thanks to Jack Nitzki (US) who wrote last week with one suggestion and follows it up with further information. We include the image of St. Lawrence of Brindisi OFMCap, for your comparison.
Tom,
I printed the picture from France and showed it to Otto Bucher OFMCap at the Monastery. He said it cannot be St. Francis (no stigmata) nor St. Anthony (no baby Jesus). He said it could be St. Lawrence of Brindisi OFMCap. I found and am forwarding to you a link to the Capuchin web site with a page and picture of St. Lawrence. It surely looks like the same person to me.
Jack

Rome -Ongoing Formation

Spain
Juan José Ecker Arnáiz (HI) sent an article about the recent celebration at the scj minor seminary of San Jerónimo de Alba de Tormes which recently dedicated a new statue of the Sacred Heart in honor of the Dehonian Year now in progress. In addition the seminary marked the opening of their academic year, saw two scholastics who will be working at the seminary this year renew their vows and finally was the occasion in which members of the province and the Region of Venezuela celebrated anniversaries (cf. Celebration and Dedication at San Jerónimo de Alba de Tormes).
The renovated cloister of San Jerónimo de Alba de Tormes minor seminary took center stage during the celebration of 75 years of religious life of Fr. Ignacio Maria Belda Perez and 50 years of priesthood for Frs. Doroteo de Vega Turienzo, Benign García Ercille and Eduardo Perales Pons, of the Spanish Province, and Fr. José Luis Segura Lacruz from the region of Venezuela....
