PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo Monday announced that Italian priest Father Giuseppe Pierantoni, who was abducted in the southern Philippine town of Dimataling last year, has been freed.
Macapagal's announcement, in her weekly radio address, followed the capture of three members of a kidnap gang over the weekend.
Pierantoni's kidnappers had demanded a hefty ransom from the Catholic Church but the church had turned them down, saying it does not pay ransom money.
