The bishop of Pagadian has confirmed to "Fides"
Vatican City, October 19th (VID) -- The Dehonian Father Giuseppe Pierantoni, who was kidnaped last October 17th in the parish of Our Lady of Fatima in Dimataling on the island of Mindanao (Philippines) was not kidnaped by the Abu Sayyaf group and the kidnaping has nothing to do with the present international crisis sparked by the fight against terrorism. Fides was told this by Bishop Zacharias Jimenez of Pagadian, a diocese in the province of Zamboanga del Sur in Mindanao, southern Philippines, where the Italian religious, aged 44, had been working since 1991. The Father General of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, Virginio Bressanelli, stated in a brief communiqué that the kidnaping was the work of a group of fifteen armed people who seized him with force and who fled, crossing the Bay of Illana on a motorboat. Father Janusz Burzawa, who is of Polish origin, arrived home immediately after the kidnaping of his confrere, was informed of it by a witness. The local civil, military and religious authorities are still waiting for a signal from the kidnappers, to start negotiations, but so far no sign has been given.

SIXTH ANNUAL MEETING OF THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION FROM ST. JOHN'S
Unfortunately, we do not have the minutes of the meetings from 1886-1888. It will be difficult to find them since they cannot be found anywhere in St. John's College. The war from 1914-18 destroyed all the documentation from this period.

died: 19.10.2001 at Puente la Reina (Navarra)Practically all his active life centered on education: he was a teacher in our schools in Madrid, Novelda and Venta de Ba6nos, until his retirement in 1984. One was always impressed by his fidelity to his tasks and to the community, his fidelity to the great amount of work to be done and the precise fulfillment of his responsibilities. Of amiable and calm character, he always was a good brother in the community in which he lived. He loved the Congregation and he was proud to be a Priest of the Sacred Heart.
