RomeA Fond Welcome Home
André Perroux (EF) and Giuseppe Pierantoni (PHI)
Umberto Chiarello, vicar general, welcomes Giuseppe Pierantoni home!Released from 172 days of captivity (cf. news special) Giuseppe Pierantoni (PHI) returned to his native Italy to a joyous welcome home from his parents, sister and the scj communities of Rome I & II. After spending a few days in Rome he will head home with his family to Bologna for a well deserved rest. Rino Venturin (PHI), originally from Italy and a former member of the Argentinean Province and now of the Philippine District, accompanied Pierantoni home from Manila.
Cf 1: Chronicle of the liberation prepared by Umberto Chiarello, vicar general.
NB We hope to have an interview for next weeks news update prapred by Stefan Tertünte (GE).
A Fond Farewell
Adriano Borst (NE) left Rome for his native Holland having almost completed his task as congregational archivist. He will return next month to meet with Maredsous concerning their work on the Dehonian archives and then will turn over the remainder of that liaison task to Umberto Chiarello (CU).
Adriano spent time in Rome as a student of theology being ordained here in Rome on December 21, 1957. After many years of working in Finland, he served on the general council first during the second term of Fr. Antonio Pantegini (CM) from 1985 to 1991, and then during the first term of Fr. Virginio Bressanelli (CU) from 1991 to 1997. We also note that he will celebrate his golden jubilee of vows on September 8th of this year. The official Roman farewell will take place in May.
The weekly Dehonian Historical and Spiritual Calendar starts on April 26th. As previously noted the text is in Spanish with the Dehonian quotes in French.
