Dehon amava molto il suo ìSan Giovanniî e anche dopo che la direzione era passata al clero diocesano, egli godeva di partecipare ad incontri amichevoli, organizzati dallíassociazione degli ex-alunni. Líarticolo che segue è il breve discorso, pronunciato da p. Dehon in uno di questi incontri, il 18 agosto 1895. Espone alcuni motivi dellíottimismo cristiano.

EN -- Fr. Dehon dearly loved his ìSaint Johnî and even after the management of it had passed to the diocesan clergy, he delighted in participating in friendly meetings organized by the association of ex-pupils. The article which we present here is the brief speech given by Fr. Dehon at one of these meetings: August 18, 1895. It expresses some reasons for Christian optimism.

La solidaridad en los Evangelios

IT -- Allíinizio di febbraio di questíanno giubilare, le Province SCJ dellíAmerica Latina hanno tenuto un ìseminarioî sul tema Con Corazón Solidario. Il p. Ruiz vi ha svolto il tema in tre parti: nei Vangeli, in S. Paolo, nella Lettera agli Ebrei. Questo articolo (non compreso nel volume) riprende la prima parte, che espone in modo analitico e chiaro il tema della ìsolidarietàî in ciascuno dei quattro Vangeli.

EN -- At the beginning of February during this Jubilee year, the S.C.J. Provinces of Latin America held a ìseminaryî on the subject ìWith a Heart of Solidarityî. Fr. Ruiz develops his theme in three parts: in the Gospels, in St. Paul, in the Letter to the Hebrews. This article deals with the first part, which depicts, in a clear and analytical manner, the theme of ìsolidarityî in each of the four Gospels.

Reparation: A Way to Happiness

IT -- Qui viene pubblicata la seconda parte dellíarticolo sulla riparazione, interpretata come via alla felicità. La prima parte, di critica storica, si trova in ìDehonianaî 2000/2, pp. 65-75. Qui viene trattato líaspetto positivo, che vede la riparazione come opera díamore verso Dio in Cristo, e di solidarietà verso i fratelli. E nulla, più dellíamore, può rendere felice il cuore dellíuomo.

FR - La première partie de cet article a été publiée dans ìDehonianaî n. 2 de cette année. Ici on a la deuxième partie : il síagit díun texte dans lequel la réparation est vue comme un chemin qui conduit au bonheur. En effet, explique líAuteur, il síagit díune oeuvre díamour envers Dieu et envers le prochain, pour la gloire de Dieu et le salut des hommes. Et rien, plus que líamour, ne peut rendre vraiment heureux le coeur humain.

Discorso di apertura alla Conferenza generale

IT - In questo suo discorso, il p. Generale ha voluto sottolineare che la Conferenza, sul tema indicato, risponde a una precisa ìmozioneî del Capitolo generale del1997. Ne ha quindi spiegato la natura e le finalità, alla luce delle nostre Costituzioni e della tradizione dehoniana, ma ci ha anche invitato a viverla come ìatto giubilareî, e quindi come sfida alla conversione e occasione di grazia. Ha concluso con líinvito che p. Dehon ripeteva spesso ai sacerdoti: ìUscite dalle sacrestie: ... Andate al popoloî; e poi ponendosi questo interrogativo: ìOggi noi, Sacerdoti del S. Cuore, siamo conosciuti come preti che vivono per la gente, o abbiamo deluso le speranze dei poveri?î

EN -- With this speech the Fr. General wanted to emphasize that this Conference, on the subject indicated, is in response to a precise ìmotionî by the General Chapter of 1997. He therefore explained its nature and its aims, in the light of our Constitutions and in the Dehonian tradition, and invited us to live it as a ìJubilee Actionî, and therefore as a challenge leading to conversion and as an occasion of grace. He concluded with the rallying cry which Fr. Dehon had often repeated to his priests - ìGet out of your sacristies... Go to the peopleî - and by posing this question: ìToday, are we Priests of the Sacred Heart known as priests who live for the people, or have we failed to fulfill the hopes of the poor?î

IT - La riflessione parte ricordando come il liberismo economico sia causa di ingiustizie, emarginazione e povertà in quasi tutti i paesi del mondo. Su questa realtà così amara, il messaggio suggerisce per prima cosa uno sguardo teologico. Quindi espone alcune ìidee forzaî, proposte e priorità, perché divenga possibile collaborare in modo efficace allíavvento del Regno del Cuore di Gesù, Regno di giustizia e di pace.

EN -- This reflection starts by recalling how economic liberalism is the cause of injustices, marginalizations and poverty in almost all the countries of the world. The first thing the message suggests is that we look at this bitter reality from a theological point of view. We are then given some ìpower ideasî, proposals and priorities to make it possible to collaborate effectively in the coming of the Kingdom of the Heart of Jesus, the Kingdom of justice and peace.

A Reflection on the North American Zone : USA & Canada

IT -- Stati Uniti díAmerica e Canada sono certamente tra i paesi più sviluppati del mondo. Ma possiamo dire che sono veramente paesi in cui regna la giustizia e la pace che tutti desideriamo? LíAutore risponde mettendo in luce alcuni aspetti della vita economica e sociale che anche in questi paesi sono una chiara offesa dei diritti fondamentali della persona umana: la libertà, la pace, la sicurezza sociale.

FR -- Les Etats-Unis díAmérique et le Canada sont certainement parmi les pays les plus développés du monde. Mais put-on dire que dans ces pays règne vraiment la justice et la paix que tous les peuples désirent díavoir ? LíAuteur analyse des aspects de la vie économique et sociale, à cause des quels on arrive même dans ces pays à la négation, pratiquement, de certain droits fondamentaux de la personne humaine, comme la liberté, la paix, la sûreté sociale.

IT - È importante la parola, ma è veramente efficace quando è confermata dalla testimonianza della vita. Questo il motivo per cui la figura di questo grande profeta dei nostri tempi è stata più volte rievocata nel corso della Conferenza.

El compromiso por el Reino de León Dehon

IT -- Il discorso sul ìRegno di Dioî è assai frequente negli scritti di p. Dehon; egli lo vede caratterizzato dallíamore, ma anche ostacolato dal peccato. Di qui la necessità della riparazione. Così viene messa in luce anche la valenza ìsocialeî della riparazione. Lo stesso tema ritorna nella seconda parte dellíarticolo, ìVenga il tuo Regnoî, ma qui allora in modo positivo: un regno che impegna a intessere rapporti di giustizia tra gli individui e tra i popoli; un regno che ha come suoi ìcodici socialiî il decalogo e il vangelo.

EN -- The subject of the ìKingdom of Godî is frequently mentioned in Fr. Dehonís writings. He sees it characterized by love, but also obstructed by sin; hence the necessity of reparation. Here, light is also shed on the ìsocialî valency of reparation. The same theme returns in the second part of the article, ìThy Kingdom Comeî, in a positive way: concerning a Kingdom which is committed to weave relationships of justice between individuals and peoples, a Kingdom which has the Ten Commandments and the Gospel as its ìsocial codeî.

Leon Dehon und die aktuelle Historiographie

IT -- Leone Dehon non viene citato spesso dagli autori che hanno scritto la storia del movimento sociale cristiano in Francia a cavallo tra il XIX e il XX secolo. E non si comprende perché. Da qualche decennio invece le cose stanno cambiando. LíAutore descrive questa curiosa vicenda, citando numerosi testi sia dei primi che dei secondi. Ma anche ci fa comprendere quanto sia importante diffondere il pensiero e gli ideali sociali di p. Dehon, perché uno non può essere amato se non è conosciuto.

EN - Leo Dehon was not often quoted by the authors who wrote about the history of the Christian social movement in France which straddled the 19th and 20th centuries; and no one knows why. For some decades however things have been changing. In this article the author describes this curious situation, quoting numerous texts both from the former and the latter centuries. He also makes us understand how important it is to spread Fr. Dehonís thoughts and the social ideals, because one cannot be loved if one is not known.

Pater Stanislaus Loh: Herz-Jesu-Priester

IT -- Questo articolo ci ricorda che anche la Chiesa del XX sec. è stata ìChiesa di Martiriî. Il padre Loh, nato nel 1879, Superiore Provinciale SCJ in Germania nel periodo del nazismo, fu più volte condannato a pene pecuniarie vessatorie e alla prigione, dando coraggiosa testimonianza della sua fedeltà a Cristo. È morto il 20 marzo 1941, nellíospedale del carcere di Düsseldorf, dove stava scontando la pena per uníingiusta condanna. Il suo nome è stato inserito tra i martiri del XX secolo del volume ìIn Zuegen für Christenî.

EN - This article reminds us that even the Church of the 20th Century was ìa Church of Martyrsî. Father Loh, born in 1879, S.C.J. Provincial Superior in Germany during the Nazi period, was more than once condemned to pay oppressive fines and to serve time in prison. He bore courageous witness to his fidelity to Christ. He died on March 20, 1941 in the hospital of Düsseldorf prison, where he was paying the penalty of an unjust sentence. His name was inscribed among the martyrs of the 20th century in the volume ìIn Zeugen für Christenî.

Une guerre qui níest pas la sienne

IT -- Una settimana di violenza e di stragi, sulle persone e sulle cose, descritta da una giornalista, mentre ne era testimone oculare. Fatti e cose puntualmente confermati poi, sia da diversi nostri confratelli dehoniani sia da missionari comboniani e suore che, nonostante la guerra, continuano a dedicarsi per medicare i feriti, seppellire i morti e proclamare pace e perdono in questa città, contesa da opposte fazione. Una pagina dolorosa che non dobbiamo dimenticare.

EN -- A week of violence and destruction, both of people and of things, is described by a journalist who was an eyewitness. These are facts and events undeniably confirmed by several of our Dehonian brethren as well as by Combonian missionaries and sisters who, in spite of the war, continue to dedicate themselves to treating the injured, burying the dead and proclaiming peace and pardon in this city contested by opposing factions. An excruciating page in history which we must not forget.

FR -- Le p. Lucjan, depuis quelques années animateur pastoral dans líoratoire de la Clinique de pédiatrie de líUniversité Jagellonica (Cracovie), exprime au Supérieur général sa joie díavoir organisé líadoration perpetuelle : un projet quíil rêvait depuis longtemps est maintenant síest réalisé.

EN -- Fr. Lucjan, for many years the pastoral animator of the chapel of the pediatric clinic of Cracow, which is part of the Collegium Medicum of the Jagellonica University, communicates his joy to the Superior General for having succeeded in promoting perpetual adoration. It is a project which had been his dream for some time and which finally became a reality.
